Business plans and financial models
Regulator-ready business plans and financial projections that hold together under questioning.
A licence application stands on its business plan. We write the plan and build the financial model behind it, so the activities, headcount, capital and projections tell the same story. Regulators test these numbers, and we build them to withstand that.
What you get
- Regulatory business plan
- The narrative plan in the structure the regulator requires, covering services, target markets, organisation, governance, outsourcing and risk.
- Financial projections
- Three-year (or regulator-specified) projections of income statement, balance sheet and cash flow, built from explicit assumptions.
- Capital and own funds calculation
- Calculation of initial and ongoing capital requirements under the applicable method, with headroom analysis.
- Stress scenarios
- Downside and wind-down scenarios showing how the firm stays solvent or exits in an orderly way.
- Assumptions book
- A documented list of every assumption and its basis, so answers to regulator questions are consistent.
How it runs
- Step 1DiscoveryWe work through your commercial plans, pricing, cost base and funding with management.
- Step 2Model buildWe build the financial model and agree the base case with you.
- Step 3Plan draftingWe write the business plan so its narrative matches the model and the policy suite.
- Step 4Regulator questionsWe help prepare answers when the regulator challenges assumptions or asks for revised projections.
Questions we get
How detailed does the model need to be?
Detailed enough that every figure in the plan can be traced to an assumption. Regulators often ask how a number was derived, and the model should answer that directly.
Can you update the plan after the licence is granted?
Yes. Many regulators expect the plan to be kept current, and a material change in the business may need to be notified.
